Food & Beverage

Steam

Steam is the primary source of process heat in food and beverage production. It is used for cooking, pasteurization, evaporation, and drying at temperatures typically between 100°C and 200°C. This range also fits well with what TheStorage's thermal energy storage can deliver.

Precast and aerated concrete gain their strength from heat. Atmospheric steam curing runs at 40 °C to 100 °C, while autoclaved aerated concrete needs saturated steam at 160 °C to 190 °C. Both are batch cycles with sharp, repeated peaks in demand — exactly the pattern a thermal store is built to absorb.

Chemical production needs precise, uninterrupted heat across a wide band — reactor and jacket heating, distillation, evaporation, drying and calcination. Polymer processing runs on tightly controlled heat. Extrusion and compounding sit between 160 °C and 300 °C, and the thermal oil loops that serve presses, dies, rolls and curing ovens operate up to 350 °C. Stored renewable heat replaces fired heaters and gas without changing the line.
